2 August 2017 – Family Visit Part Two

Stuart had promised Georgia a boat trip and we settled for a short one from Calpe to Altea
We booked in advance, but were quite surprised to find that they were not as busy as we expected
We were advised to get there half an hour before departure, so we had to wait for the boat.  Georgia was fascinated by a nearby fishing boat where they were cleaning the catch.
The boat was on time, having come direct from Denia
According to the timetable they only run two days a week, even during the busy season
There was plenty of seating and fortunately it was also well shaded
Jack and Georgia were very excited.   Chloe less so, but happy as long as she had her dad nearby.
The previous week had been very hot, and today was similar despite being overcast
There were no restrictions about moving around, and we soon found ourselves a quite spot to admire the view
It was interesting to see Sierra Bernia from a different angle
Jack soon joined us and took this photo of us together
As we turned towards Altea we had this fine view of Sierra Helada
By now Georgia has also joined us and admiring the view gave way to answering countless questions
In less than an hour we arrived at Altea
That was more than enough for Jack and Georgia who were starting to get bored
The heat really hit us as we walked towards the town, and we were pleased to find a shaded area near the port
There was a Masymas nearby, where we stocked up on drinks, fresh bread, fruit and ice cream.
We had planned an open air lunch so that the children could play and run around
Chloe was particularly pleased to be able to run around having been restrained on the boat.
We then had two hours to explore Altea.   In this heat the walk along the prom proved more than enough.   Jan and I took shelter in a bar whilst the rest of the family made their way back to our lunch area.
