1 May 2017 – Tossel del Moro

There were nine of us for today’s walk which was led by Wendy

Lots of flowers at this time of year, but this one caught everyone’s attention.  Some confusion about what it might be but it was agreed that it was a poppy.

Having cancelled our walk last Thursday due to heavy rain, we were more than ready for a good walk.

It was a clear day and the sun very hot, but tempered by a very cold breeze.   Ideal weather for walking.

We were all particularly pleased to see Rosemary, on her first walk with the group since last year

She managed to do about an hour before leaving the group and making her way back with David

Despite being May Day there were very few other walkers around

However when we reached the abandoned finca where we planned our banana stop there were another couple already there.  They wisely left as soon as we arrived.

So we had a very pleasant short break to enjoy the view

Then it was straight into the start of the climb to Tossel del Moro

Not as steep as climbing Soldates, but we felt steeper than when we did it anti clockwise last November.

As always we all did it at our own pace, and all arrived safely at the top

However the cold wind prevented us from admiring the views for too long

We also felt that the steep descent was more difficult that when we did this walk the other way around.

It was exactly 1pm when we arrived at our picnic site, the timing very well judged by Wendy.

A very enjoyable walk competed with a very welcome, though quite expensive, drink at the cooperatives in Gata
