17 of us for today’s walk, the largest group so far this year
The
larger group makes it more difficult for David to lead
But
he was well supported by his trusty back marker – me!
It
was nice to welcome Kevin and Sue back after their summer break
We
were also pleased to welcome Helen’s husband Gareth for his first walk with the
group
We
were fortunate to have yet another sunny and warm day
Though
as always the temperatures were slightly lower at Castells than in Parcent
Jan
and David share a welcome banana stop
There
are a lot of impressive views on this walk, but none better than at the mirado
The
extension to the Arch is optional, but everyone wanted to do it today
Alan
had a nasty fall just before this photo was taken. Fortunately no injuries, other than a few
scratches. But he is now a confirmed
convert to walking sticks.
What
a difference from the dull and wet conditions of our last visit to the arch
Only
Colin, Kevin, Gareth and Sue wanted to stand in the arch itself
David
opted for a new track back which avoided the scramble over rocks
It
was warm enough today to use our preferred picnic lunch spot
With
views like this it is not surprising that Castells is our favourite walking
area
The
return journey to Castells is mostly flat or downhill
David
allowed more water stops than usual for everyone to close up
Great
to have such a good turnout, though we would not really want a much larger
group
